Mission and Vision for Development

Ming Chi University of Technology is dedicated to realizing the visionary goal set by its founders: "To establish the best university." Aligned with the school's mission and educational philosophy, the university has formulated the vision: "To become the most preferred talent source for industries and the top choice partner for enterprises." The vision for "Talent Cultivation" primarily involves innovative teaching activities, residential life, work-study practical internships, academy counseling, and liberal arts education, aiming to cultivate Ming Chi graduates as the "most preferred talents" in the industry. In the vision for "Knowledge Innovation," the emphasis is on scientific inquiry, practical application, and addressing industry needs to foster knowledge innovation and research and development. The establishment of distinctive research centers and teams, coupled with strong industry collaboration, aims to position Ming Chi's research team as the "top choice partner" for enterprises.

Driven by the original intent of contributing to and giving back to society, the university's fundamental mission is to cultivate talents required by the nation and industries. Balancing theoretical learning with practical industry experience, the university nurtures students with the spirit of diligence and simplicity. The founders' injection of corporate resources provides students with work-study internship opportunities, allowing them to gain not only financial rewards but also independence, resilience, and practical skills. The internship program has expanded to various industries domestically and internationally, receiving industry recognition and effectively bridging the gap between education and industry, achieving the vocational education goal of industry-academia integration.

Since 2018, the university has been led by President Wang Wen-yuan, also the president of the Formosa Plastics Group. Acknowledging the rapid advancements in modern technology, such as artificial intelligence (AI), autonomous vehicles, and quantum computing, President Wang emphasizes the need for universities to keep pace with technology in the knowledge-based industrial environment. Recognizing this shift, the university has repositioned itself as a "Industry-Academia Research-Oriented Technological University." In addition to promoting holistic development through balanced education, the university now places equal importance on knowledge innovation, industry-academia research, and practical application. This transformation allows the university to contribute to the nation's overall economic and industrial development, leveraging its talent pool's value through scientific inquiry, knowledge breakthroughs, and industry applications.

The university's mission has evolved from a singular focus on "talent cultivation" to a broader objective encompassing both "talent cultivation and knowledge innovation" as the core goals of a technological university.
