The advancement of Taiwan's industries owing to scientific and technological progress underscores the increasing significance of universities in nurturing talent and fostering knowledge innovation. As a university that focuses on R&D through industry-academic cooperation, MCUT is dedicated to strengthening its faculty's capabilities in practical research and development. Through a sandwich-type teaching model and emphasis on practical internship instruction, the university has successfully integrated practical accomplishments, knowledge, and experience into its curriculum, thus enhancing the depth of practical training. Furthermore, MCUT attaches great importance to diverse social values and actively fosters a creative and motivating learning atmosphere. To align collective objectives, MCUT has drafted medium- and long-term goals aimed at the comprehensive improvement of each aspect, including teaching, research, and counseling. Additionally, through the implementation of the Higher Education Sprout and University Social Responsibility Projects, MCUT is committed to promoting innovative practical teaching, fostering socially diverse prosperity, and establishing both national and international connections.

MCUT has established ten research centers dedicated to practical research and development. These centers focus on areas like green energy batteries, environmental and health studies, pollution prevention, intelligent monitoring, and intelligent vehicles. Additionally, the university collaborates with relevant industries and emphasizes industry-academia cooperation, patents, technology transfer, SCI papers, and other research and development achievements. MCUT is currently actively developing factories for trial and volume production and derivative enterprises. As for environmental sustainability, the university promotes activities like beach cleaning, river waste removal, and plastics reduction to preserve biodiversity and campus ecology. Furthermore, the university has declared its goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2043. It promotes the implementation of measures for water-saving, electricity-saving, solar power generation, waste classification, and recycling, and announces its performance in water and electricity consumption, waste reduction, etc. Moreover, through green procurement, the university urges cooperative vendors to jointly pay attention to environmental issues. To track environmental performance, MCUT consistently undergoes ISO 14064-1 greenhouse gas inventory verification, ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems certification, and ISO 50001 Energy Management System certification. The university also takes part in green university rankings, World University Rankings by THE, discipline rankings, and university influence rankings. Additionally, MCUT regularly publishes sustainable development reports and updates information about university affairs and finance on its official website to enhance public awareness of its development status.

MCUT actively supports social care through various initiatives, like providing scholarships to students from remote rural areas and implementing support measures for vulnerable students, ensuring that economically disadvantaged students can pursue their studies securely. Also, the university cooperates with local middle and elementary schools to enhance teaching cooperation and mutual benefit in education. The university also organizes activities to promote the well-being of new second-generation and foreign migrant workers, facilitating their integration into Taiwanese society. In terms of practical education, MCUT provides courses related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), practical internships, interdisciplinary programs, and a government-supported student system to enhance students’ competitiveness in the workplace. Furthermore, the university emphasizes holistic education, assisting students in cultivating positive attitudes through academic education, mindful learning, club operations, and residential experiences. Lastly, by partnering with local arts and culture groups, the university organizes activities aimed at preserving local heritage, fostering environmental awareness, and promoting local education.

In terms of fostering diverse partnerships, MCUT has collaborated with T5-GIP to enhance communication networks with institutions of higher learning. We are committed to promoting bilingual education to bolster local students’ foreign language proficiency, expanding cooperation with international partner schools, enrolling foreign students, recruiting additional international faculty, and encouraging both faculty and students to participate in global exchanges. These efforts aim to enhance campus diversity and inclusivity. As for university governance, we prioritize ensuring a conducive work environment and campus safety, implementing equitable and transparent compensation and advancement structures, and divulging information pertinent to university affairs, all with the aim of establishing an impartial, transparent system of university governance. These initiatives are designed to enhance operational efficiency and service quality. Moreover, in accordance with international educational standards, all departments and institutes of MCUT have obtained IEET or ACCSB certification. Looking towards the future, we acknowledge the increasingly critical role of technological universities in addressing societal needs. In addition to our traditional missions of nurturing talent and fostering knowledge innovation, we have expanded our focus to include social responsibility and sustainable environmental stewardship. As a technological university that places equal emphasis on teaching, research, and industry-academia collaboration, MCUT is committed not only to continuously advancing our existing objectives but also to integrating public concerns such as sustainable environmental practices and social responsibility in order to progressively heighten our impact and contributions to industry, society, and the environment in a spirit of continual improvement.
