Water and Water Impact Management
Water Supply System
After coordinating the government’s redevelopment of Wenzaizun in 2021, we replaced the original underground water source with water supplied by the tap water company to supply water dispensers on campus, drinking water at student restaurants and dormitories, and irrigation water. In the future, we aim to develop more diversified water sources and install a rainwater recycling system to ensure that all irrigation water used for campus greening is recycled water.
Water Saving Measures and Performance
Since 2006, MCUT has preferentially installed equipment with a water-saving label in new buildings planned and constructed, and water consumption has been continually monitored. Furthermore, the water supply equipment used in old buildings has also been replaced with water-saving equipment, and advocacy of water saving has been strengthened in the hope that MCUT can improve the utilization efficiency of its water resources.
Wastewater and Sewage Treatment
Currently, there are three domestic sewage treatment yards located in the Comprehensive Building, stadium, and Innovation Building of MCUT, respectively. The approved treatment capacity of domestic sewage equipment of these three domestic sewage treatment yards reaches 288t/day, 240t/day, and 224t/day, respectively. The effluents generated shall pass a water quality test and comply with relevant standards indicated in environmental protection regulations before they can be discharged to the public rainwater sewers. The sewage sources generated from the daily campus lives of MCUT teachers and students are simple, and most are degradable organic substances. We would entrust a third-party impartial testing agency to test the sewage once every half a year regularly, and the test results are qualified.
