The Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE) organized the largest annual sustainability event, the 2024 3rd SDG Asia Expo, which took place from August 8 to 10 at the Taipei World Trade Center. Ming Chi University of Technology (MCUT) was awarded three silver-tier recognitions in the "TSAA Taiwan Sustainability Action Awards" for its outstanding teaching and action programs.

TAISE, to commend and encourage enterprises, government agencies, universities, hospitals, and NGOs for their exceptional achievements and contributions in advancing the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), held the "2024 Asia-Pacific and Taiwan Sustainability Action Awards" ceremony in conjunction with the 3rd SDG Asia Expo and Summit. This year, a total of 230 organizations participated, submitting 664 proposals. MCUT has won awards for all three of its proposed programs.

One of the MCUT's award-winning silver-tier programs is the "Tamsui River Basin Environmental Action" led by the Office of Action Orientation, which promotes environmental initiatives for the Tamsui River. The project integrates the university's expertise in "Safety, Health and Environmental Engineering" and collaborates with the Society of Wilderness and the Environmental Protection Department at New Taipei City to regularly monitor water quality and investigate river waste to protect the Tamsui River. The second winning project, "Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Building Sustainability Together," was spearheaded by the College of Management and Design. This initiative helps traditional industries in New Taipei City respond to the challenges of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) by offering professional expertise and solutions, while also cultivate students' ability to implement SDGs in the future. The third project, "Designing with Community in Social Economy: Indigo Dyeing in Sanxia," executed by the Department of Business and Management, focuses on Sanxia old street and the experience economy designed with the local community to revitalize traditional industries and promote the sustainable development of indigo-dyeing culture.

Liu, Zu-Hua, the President of MCUT, emphasized that sustainability has become a global focal point, and the university will continue to promote related educational initiatives. The goal is to nurture creative, professional, and action-oriented students who will serve as seeds of sustainability, bringing greater well-being to the society in Taiwan, addressing current global challenges, and transforming the world.
